A "Typical" Day...

Hello again....

Just thought I'd give you a little picture of our "typical" day so far.
But to do that, I just about have to start at about bed time the night before... Nights and days can seem to run together.
Usually between the four little folks we're up at least 4 times a night.
Last night we got everyone asleep by 9:30... but instead of going to bed like you would think exhausted Daddy and Mommies would, we went and set up our new computer. Our old one has been slowly but surely crashing and it just finally died last week.

So instead of being asleep by 11:00 when Halli woke up crying, we were just getting into bed.
So the fun began.

I went in with Halli and talked to her for a while then went back to bed...
For long enough to *just* fall asleep.

Quincy was up.
Bad dream? I think so... that's usually seems to be what is bothering him.
So I went in with him for a while... and after finally getting him back to sleep I was sneaking out and Phoenix woke up! Ta Da!

We're on a roll!

So Phoenix takes quite a bit longer to get back to sleep...

About 2:00 I went back to bed. I had dozed a little in their room... but not much! :)

We slept blissfully for about another hour and a half...

Phoenix came running in... Luke told him just to get into our bed.
He happily obliged. He'd rather sleep with us anyway.
So after getting his wiggles out, he fell asleep. By now Luke's alarm starts going off...

And in comes Quincy.

It's now 5:30. Quincy is WIDE awake, Luke is in the shower and Riley, Phoenix and Halli are sleeping. I'm doing none of the above...
Wondering if I should just get up. But I don't. I go back to sleep. Sleeping with Quincy is like sleeping with one of those puppies that roll all around in their sleep or something, I'd imagine. He kicks, he snores, he wiggles, he snores... oh, did I mention he SNORES?!

So now it's 7:00. Quincy did go back to sleep at some point, Luke left for work and now Riley and Halli are awake.

Wide awake, I might add.

They come out to the living room and are told to get some books and go read in their bedroom for a little... mean 'ole mom.

And now it's 7:30, they're back out, tractors are roaring, Quincy is awake... Phoenix is sleeping cross ways in the bed.

I'm up.

Phoenix snoozes until about 8:15 or so. How? I have no idea... trains, tractors and squealing are all happening about 15 feet away from his head.

Four wet pull ups and diapers are taken off and four children are dressed and done eating breakfast by 9:00. I'm not dressed yet. Nope.

So they go running outside... I clean up the kitchen, get dressed, get my hair done... and peek out the window to see the two littles peacefully coloring the sidewalks and patios pastel shades of sidewalk chalk. Yay.

And where are the big boys? Oh! There they are, they're dumping the gas cans out. Nice.
They come in and are sitting on their beds waiting to talk to Daddy. After about a half hour he calls...
The big boys apologize and scamper back outside.
To the dirt pile.
Then the sidewalk chalk.

Is it really only 10:30? I make 2 pans of brownies... gluten free for Riley and Halli and the regular box mix for the rest of us.

We go for a Gator ride....
A long cold one.
To the goats, chickens and turkeys.
To the dairy.
To the almond blossoms that smell so delicious I think about just staying there and letting the children run along the orchard in the sunshine as I snap beautiful pictures...
Oops, reality check.
Huge canal right beside us, pollinator bees buzzing around, it's cold, not warm and sunny, no camera managed to be brought on the ride... that and every one was complaining of the cold.

So on we go... the neighbors see us out riding and wave us over. Want to show us off to their friends. Riley was cold so he got under the seat of the Gator... all that's sticking out is his helmet. The friend of our neighbor asks if the two 4 year olds are identical twins....
I laugh. Yep, crack up!
Hardly.
:)

Riley pokes up his head... the lady sees that they are not, in fact, identical. :)

She tells us if she gets bored she'll come over, you know, cause we probably don't get bored. Plus her son is moving out next week.

Hmmm...

Home we go.
Lunch time!

Then nap time.
Those always go so smoothly.
Today Luke laid down with P and Q. When he left Quincy still wasn't asleep.
I went in and told him to shut his eyes.
5 minutes later he was asleep.

I start a blog post.... and now Riley's up.
We read a book...
He's usually the first one up from napping, so we try to either play a game or read books.
Yesterday it was Uno, some days it's Chicken Scratch with Domino's... or Cootie or Memory or Candy Land.

Today was Dr. Seuss day, I guess.
Now Riley is dusting which is a treat because I am letting him use DUST SPRAY for the first time!
What fun! :)
It smells good, anyway!

I'll have to let you know how the afternoon goes now....
:)

Blessings on your day! Can you keep smiling?
Today I read from Nancy Leigh DeMoss's daily devotions "Seeking Him"

"Don't let tiredness be an excuse for carnality."

I told Luke to remind me a few times today....

Ready for Church!

Bubble Wrap! Quinn wasn't sure at first...

But he warmed right up! ;)

Silly little goose... that water dish in the corner is a huge temptation...
