Happenings...

How on earth is it already the middle of January?!
I remember all those "old" people telling me how quick life goes and never believing them.
Well, I do now.
.....

My BABY will be three MONTHS old this weekend! Weren't we just in a quandary over what to name him? (I still haven't gotten used to the name Trey, by the way. So I just call him all sorts of "pet names" like Puffalump, Smoochy-Cheeks, Beautiful Boy and Kissy Face... doubt those will stick for a nickname, tho!!) God could not have blessed us more with this child! He's SUCH a happy baby! He rarely cries and is happy to just be with the crew. He's QUITE loved and recently I'm thinking I ought to be letting him have some tummy time as he's usually having lap or arm time with one of us. He's soooo chubby and at two and a half months was 15 pounds. At three months (almost) he's already outgrown 3-6 month clothes so I'm sad to say I'm ALREADY putting little man clothes on him as he gets the 6-12 month stuff.

We have been trying to be more intentional with "quality time" with the other children and I've started reading the Little House books with them. They're fascinated and look forward to reading time each afternoon. Their faces go from shock and awe to horror and disgust as I read about blowing up pig bladders as balloons and making maple syrup and playing with corn cob baby dolls and butchering bear, deer and pigs.

We're attempting to do a science project each week as well as an art project, so our walls and windows are filling up with paper snowflakes, pipe-cleaner animals and shapes and such. Today I gave each of the children a plate covered in baking soda and a bowl of vinegar with food coloring... and a pipette. They remained enthralled with fizzy fun for an hour before they ran out of vinegar. Scott gave me a big hug afterwards and said, "Mom, that was the BEST project EVER!" :)

Our chickens are kinda wimpy in this cold so we're only getting a few eggs a day. So sad. We've got a heat lamp in there but it just must not be quite to their liking. We're planning to get more birds this spring, as the demand for eggs is much higher than we can fill... praise the Lord! Every cent has been saved in a big container to be spent on CAM and World Vision Projects. They haven't decided yet what they'll be purchasing. Decisions, decisions!

Scott and Halli are so excited for their birthdays coming up in February- the 14th (Halli) and the 17th (Scott). I think they ask every day how many more days until their birthdays.

Quinn is doing good right now. We seem to be in the high part of the cycle so that's a blessing. His sleeping is improved and he's currently not on a single sleep aid!! He has been doing a cortisol reset aid which I am pretty confident is working. Usually good sleep equals manageable behavior, so that is a relief...

Riley and his Lego's are rarely seen apart. He had saved up some money and then added that to a gift card he'd received from his Great Grandpa & Grandma and bought a Lego Space Shuttle and a Moon Rover. Now we're all learning about such things.

Not a single day passes that I don't stand in awe (sometimes frustrated awe) at what God has done in our lives and the amazing blessings we've seen from obedience to His calling and surrendering to Him. Truly He works ALL things out for good for those who love Him. Although there are very difficult days, I can honestly say I am SO thankful for every mountain and valley we've came through, simply for what it has done for my relationship with my Lord and Savior- Jesus, my amazing and fantastic husband and each of our children.

Oh, and the children have taken up Spanish Bull Fighting.
Hmmm.
Complete with "Toro, toro" and "Ole!"

I realize there's not an extreme point to this post, but hey! I think it'll break the writer's block and maybe I can get back in the swing of blogging!! ;)
I kinda miss it...
