God sets the lonely in families...
Psalm 68:6
You guys!
I have got a most wonderful story to share with you!! I still am in awe at what an amazing privilege God has allowed me and the rest of my little family to to be a part of!
Do you remember precious Miss Lene?
This beautiful, precious child. God has, again, blew me away at how into the details He is! He has, again, shown me just how much He cares for His children, the forgotten, the wounded, the abandoned, the broken, the hurting...
God placed Lene on my heart the day before a very special friend of mine went Home to be with Him forever. This friend of mine, Zeke, taught me more about God's desire for children to be in loving families in the short 18 months I knew him, than I ever would have imagined possible. Zeke was given his dream for a family of his own the day before his 14th birthday. And God placed Zeke into the most beautiful family ever! Oh, how they love him! And he blossomed! He grew! He learned so much! I will never forget watching Zeke be grafted into this wonderful family... How they all enveloped him with their love. How in just a few short months, this once orphaned boy, grew to know just how loved he was. Watching God build this precious family will always be a memory I treasure. God used Zeke and his family to touch so, so many people's hearts. One of the (many) things that He showed me was the NEED, not a trivial want, but the extreme necessity of a family in a child's life. He has given me a passion to speak up for these children who are not able to speak for themselves.
And then God introduced me to Lene...
I fell hard for her. I would have signed up to adopt this child in a heartbeat... Buuuut that wasn't what God was asking of me. Instead, He was asking me to do something that I'd never really (wholeheartedly, anyway) done before. He was asking me to advocate for this child! To share her and speak up for her. To love her and to be her voice. So this brought us to the Lene Quilt Fundraiser... Now, what in the world?! It hardly makes sense to raise funds for a child who has no committed family, does it? Not to me, but this is the platform God was choosing to use to get Lene's future family's attention, not to mention touch *quite* a few hearts along the way! Through no doing of my own, the fundraiser was a smashing success, raising over $1500 for Lene's adoption fund! Only God!
If you care to read back through my March 2014 posts, you will see that, along with my desire for Lene's family to find her, I was praying God would have them commit on her 4th birthday, March 8th. Now, here is the point where the details have to get a bit guarded, as there are many legalities that have to be ironed out and lots of rules to follow with what information is shared on public media. But, let me tell you, every SINGLE detail of this story was perfectly planned out by God Himself! You would be covered in goosebumps and your mouth would be gaping open and you'd be at a loss for words, except "Wow, God!" or something to that effect (ok, that was me... but really, it's THAT amazing!).
God has orchestrated a friendship that I never saw coming and never knew how much I needed. He has brought a very, very special person into my life, who I am confident will be a friend forever! And for this I am more than thankful! So, without farther ado, I introduce to you, my new friend, Amber B!! I know so many of you have cared about Lene and have prayed for this family when you joined me in asking God to bring Lene's family to her... Would you take a minute and pop over to Amber's blog and read their family's amazing testimony? Trust me, you will not be sorry! (Start HERE) (and then HERE)
There are still many mountains to move before precious Lene can come home to her family... Please, please join me in praying for God to touch the hearts and hands of His people and the government and agency workers so that Lene can be home as soon as possible! God used YOU to share the quilt fundraiser and if He has used Lene to touch your heart in any way, would you please share this story? Would you take a minute and pray for this family? Would you consider how He may be calling you to speak up? Let's join hands and provide a support system for this family as they step out in faith, with open arms, to bring their new daughter HOME!
