Pride

So I struggle with PRIDE...
in my ride.

I can go for a while thinking I don't really struggle too much with pride.
I mean, really. I can roll into a store looking like the mom of many that I am, with my many in tow, wearing their years-old, wore out, neon colored Crocs, holey jeans and John Deere hat (anyone wanna say FARM KIDS?!) and me wearing (quite possibly) the same skirt I wore yesterday along with my trusty grey or cream sweatshirt...
Yeah, not much pride in THAT appearance.

And then I see a nice shiny Suburban pull out in front of me.
And I visit (again) my "pride".

Me, driving Big Beulah Bus, filthy as she usually is, all her battle scars from the "Look Mom! I can ride my bike between the Bus and the garage wall!" moments, car seats full of popcorn from the most recent trip to the hardware store rolling out, and oh look! a lost french fry (of two or fifteen) plus all 15 or so packs of gum, the mobile pharmacy & mobile office, and the trash can we've added...

So there goes the pride in my ride.

But to make things clear...

I actually have come to love Big Beulah!
I took 7 other people yardsale-ing last weekend, plus a dresser we just had to move the back-est seat for... and ALL the stuff we managed to pick up along the way. I can pack in like, EVERYONE plus a few and still have room for the kitchen sink.

Plus?

The children are W-A-Y more worth having than my nice shiny Suburban...

So now when I see a nice shiny Suburban (or Yukon XL) driving spiffily along, I thank God for the blessing of children. Each one of them.

(And do you know how many Suburbans and Yukon XL's there are?!)

And while we're on the subject of PRIDE, I'll throw it all out and post pictures of what my children were found doing at GRANDMA'S the other day...

Whew! Here's a little more appropriate picture... my mom's beautiful flowers.

And yes, lesson learned. Regardless of the fact it's only April, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS bring swim clothes to Grandma's!!!!

Being a mom has been by far the MOST humbling thing I've ever experienced as of yet... and I guess I still have some pride because otherwise I wouldn't be having so many "humbling" times! LOVE the photos of the kiddos having such fun in their undies - it's no strange thing for our girl to be out running around in hers too :) (less laundry right?) Bless you as you continue to see the things that REALLY matter!

I love it! Gone are the good old days where that's how every kid in the neighborhood ran through the sprinkler!

You will come to love that van and you will be very sad the day you realize that you just don't have enough people riding in it anymore to justify owning such a gas hog. Of course you may go through 2 before that happens...we did and we only had 5 kids. Which, I notice, you have not blogged about yet. The number 5, that is. ;)
