Story of my Life

ROAD TRIP!!

Thursday morning, bright and early, we set out for Quinter, Kansas for Grandpa Boone's funeral. Although we usually love to travel, this was such a sad reason to take a trip. Our special Grandpa is already very missed.

We'd hoped to take a trip this fall back east and visit as many friends and family as we could. Because we would already be "that far" east and Luke had a few days he could miss, we decided to make a few extra stops. One stop led to another, and although we only had 10 days TOTAL, we were so blessed to see many special friends!

Bright & early... Time to go!

DVD players... And although they were handy, the children only watched 2 movies the whole 5,600 miles!! We did, however, do many, many audio books! :)

Somewhere in Idaho...

Yay for Utah!! 80 is nice!

Devil's Slide, Morgan, UT

Green River, Wyoming

The fire alarms went off at the motel we stayed at... We had to evacuate. False alarm, thankfully... And then it went off 2 more times. Pretty much no sleep. Ugh.

Noise canceling headphones... Ahhh

May and there's still snow?! Ugh! (Wyoming)

And finally they sleep!!

At least he's happy!!

We're HERE!

I love Kansas...

Bottle calves at our cousin's farm in Kansas...

Sneaking in some horse time

And we're headed further east!

10 pm and we're still rollin' along!

And the next morning it shows... zzzzzz.

Super pleased God allowed me the privilege of meeting Lene's mom in Arkansas!! How cool is that?! I love the friendships that only God could have arranged.

And we continue on east....

Beautiful Mississippi drain farmland in Missouri

Crossing of the Mighty Mississippi River... much cheering!!

First EVER firefly sighting... more cheering!! :)

Tennessee... definitely in the Bible Belt... there are churches EVERYWHERE back here!!!

Southern Charm :)

We spent a wonderful evening with our Kentucky friends... My girl, she LOVES frogs!

Fishing... truly wonderful friends

Toe dip

And he was happy to make it to our motel in Elizabethtown, KY that evening...

Trey really travels well... ;-)

We zipped through western Ohio, with only a stop for lunch and gas. That was very, very sad, as we have so many friends/family in Ohio that we wanted to see. We now hope to get an "Ohio trip" in sometime soon-ish.

Fun to see more friends
Peyton, Quinn, Riley, Trey, Scott, Parker, & Halli

We FINALLY got to meet each other's babys!! (Tom & Landy's son, Parker)

We made it up to Brant and Bonny's that evening, and much to the children's delight, it was warm enough to SWIM!!! We stayed overnight there and headed out the next day toward Michigan...

And lest you think there were no panic moments on our trip (haha, right?!) Halli discovered a tick in her hair! Ewwww!!!! Bonny quickly twisted it right out... GAG!

Michigan!! Oh, what a wonderful little tribe here! We stayed the next night with Daniel & Rebekah...
Esther, Trey, Halli, Johanna, Fiona, Scott, Quinn, Riley, Jack & Enya (baby Frank not pictured...)

Pointing this van toward Washington and heading home!!
(Halli doesn't look so pleased... by now we'd discovered she gets carsick. Not cool.)

Illinois Farmland...

First time in Wisconsin... and apparently I'd been missing Culver's all my life... first time for that, too!

By mid-day on Friday, we still had 1,760 miles to go... ugh.

Crossing BACK over the Mississippi.... heading west!

Apples provided fun entertainment for the kiddios, thanks Rebekah!

Ahhh... I think I will survive this l-o-n-g drive, after all! :)

Hello, Badlands!

Back to the land of real mountains! Montana

And more Montana... it's a very long state to drive through!

By about 7:00 on Saturday, Trey had just about had enough of his car seat...

The sun was setting as we entered Idaho!

We made it home!!!! Sunday morning, very early.

5,600 miles
10 days
19 states
5 kiddos
1 driver
(Seriously, Luke will NOT share that seat!!)
EQUALS
One trip to be remembered!!!

And there were radishes in abundance once we got home!!!

Happy week, y'all!
I've got loads and loads and loads of laundry to catch up on....
And weeds gone wild in the garden and flower beds!

Fun! And we're going to have to agree to disagree on "mountains"... I like my mountains! They're the best there is to me. ;) Great to see y'all!

We have driven part of that route many times so your pictures bring back many memories. We have also read so many "books" via CD's over the years; it's a great way to pass the time and read the classics. You might try a wrist band for Halli called Sea Band that has helped my car sick children. My sympathy on the passing of a beloved Grandpa. He was a very kind and Godly man.

WOW WOW and WOW what a long and fun and tiring journey. So glad to host you for lunch and see your beautilful children again and you and Luke of course. Wish it could have been longer but thankful for the little bit! So glad all went well despite the tick and car sickies! Have fun "settling" back in and pulling all those weeds. Get those chillins a helping! God Bless your family! T. L. P. and P.
