I've wanted a garden every year for like, ever!
And every single year somehow it just does not seem to work out.
Some years I get it planted and it's fantastic and there are tomatoes or peppers or squash *just* about ready and our thieving scalawag of a dog eats every.single.bit of produce. Seriously.
So.
This year I set out (rather determinedly) to have a GARDEN!
I first built a fence.
Mostly by myself.
I dug the holes.
I set the posts.
I cut alllll the boards.
I nailed them on... mostly.
One day Luke came home and took pity on my slow progress and saved my bacon!
He's much more talented at running an air nailer!!
:-)
Then my fantastic father in law had seen some discarded feed troughs at the feedlot near their trans-loading business and mentioned those to us.
Luke went and (after getting permission from the owner) got them and hauled them home.
Luke and I set them into place.
Luke used a pick and punched lots of holes in the bottoms.
And then!!
We had debated how on earth to haul all the fill for the beds into the garden.
Thanks to my fantastic little fence, it would all have to be hauled in by wheelbarrow!
Ugh!
Then another piece of equipment from the business saved our backs!
Enter the Slinger Truck.
And thanks to a generous dairy-man friend of Luke's, we got all the compost FREE of charge! Woah!
So the snazzy slinger truck rolled in, unloaded the WHOLE box full of compost and rolled out!
(Oh, and due to the high power of the shooting compost, some of my fence boards were shot off the back fence... ahem. Guess I'll be redoing some of it!!)
I'm still in awe!
Now... that brings me to today.
Planting day.
And it's RAINING!!!
So I'll either get it done this afternoon if it stops or wait until tomorrow...
I know I'm a little late, but there's been a *few* other things going on around here lately!
I'll try to keep y'all updated on the garden progress as I'm sure you're all interested... right!? ;-)
Leave me a comment if you have any fantastic tips on gardening!
Or, what are some of your favorite things to plant?

Yay for you to hopefully have a successful garden this year! I have tried several years too and its never worked due to neighbors cats & dogs and too much shade. This year I am doing it with a friend... Hoping for a bountiful harvest! :)
