Christmas Shopping~

Today each of the children did their Christmas Shopping...
for themselves!

It worked out fabulous!
We started the process by counting out all their money earned from collecting cans and they decided together to spend that on milk for children and reforesting Haiti (!!) ... Yes, they changed their mind from getting a pig to this.

Then Luke and I gave them each some $$ to spend for their Christmas gifts.

Riley chose to get 25 Bibles for Children as well as 3 Ducks.

Phoenix chose to get a Pig.

Quinn chose to get a Sheep.

Halli chose to get 3 Bunny Rabbits...
It really was a lot of fun and they debated over what to "get" for the longest time and looked at ALL the pictures in the gift catalogs. They wondered why nobody had been feeding the starving child in the CAM booklet and why some children didn't have food or money of houses of daddy's and mommy's... lots of good questions.

Each child prayed specifically for the family or child their gift was going to go to.

We do plan to do stockings with the children here... but we're going to refrain from the whole BIG gift thing to keep the focus off of "I WANT" and "I GOT" and so on.

Also... on a side note, those of you with front loading washers- have you ever got too much soap in it?! Haha, I did today. I must have not been paying too close of attention cause I've had this washer for almost 2 years now, and this is a first!!

Oh, and this was after I'd cleaned this up 3 times... it was all down the washer and puddled on the floor

What a wonderful idea and a great way to teach your children about giving.
